ingredients for a perfect summer day...

August is starting off to be a great month. On Wednesday Gabriel finally got his Dutch driver's license and I picked up my official Dutch residence permit! Woohoo!

It's been so hot and sunny here in Amsterdam that we also had a chance this week to visit the beach. Who knew that half of the Netherlands would also have the same idea? Driving in a mix of rush-hour and beach traffic was horrid, but we finally made it to Bloemendaal beach.

A few days ago our favourite ice cream stand (Ijscuypje) introduced a new flavour: Koko (aka Coconut). Mixed with chocolate it is heaven...plus it has chunks of coconut in it since it's homemade.

We really need to stop going to grab an "ijsje" but we have such good reasons: a) it's right down the street, b) it's SO delicious, c) it's incredibly hot in our apartment since, like everyone else in A'dam, we don't have air-conditioning.

Besides, what's better than skipping the gym to stroll along the canal eating an ice cream with your boyfriend?

Love the pics! It's been so hot and humid hasnt it! We have a ceiling fan downstairs and the bedrooms have fans and we have a small portable A/C in our room. It's really miserable without those things.

However going out for a coconut ijsje sounds lekker!!!

Ooo, Ijscuypje! Seems delicious! But... but... where do I find it? Please, share the address with a mouth watered Brazilian expat! :)

Congrats on the new drivers license and your resident permit! I lived in Holland for 4 years living Holland and was denied my Dutch drivers license 4 times on the trade-in policy due to bureaucracy! I am delighted to say after moving from A'dam to Berlin my husband just got his German license and mine is on my way! Yahoo!!
