Summer in Singapore!

Today's installment of the "Summer Around the World" Series features the adorable, stylish, and fun-loving blog, Poptart. Since she is currently spending her summer in Singapore, Adele has been kind enough to let us take a peek into what summer in Singapore is really like (from what I gather, it is hot, hot, hot!)

Where do you live?
Singapore!! Even though I'm currently studying in the UK (:

What is your idea of a perfect summer day?
I know it's probably contrary to what a lot of other people might say, but my idea of a real PERFECT summer day is when the sun is just slightly peeking out amongst the clouds, there is the occasional breeze and from time to time the sun decides to hide out for a bit - it can get waaay too hot!

What is the summer weather typically like in Singapore?
We have no seasons! It's a perpetual summer to be honest. The year-round heat/humidity definitely makes us unique. So if you ever want to visit Singapore during the "warmer" months, come anytime! (:

Is there a special summer food that defines Singapore?
Singaporeans eat all day, every day. We don't have a special summer food/drink. People eat all sorts of food, even spicy, soupy things in the warm weather. Spicy food is probably what most Singaporeans love. Think Chilli Crabs and Sambal KangKong (a kind of vegetable in a spicy paste). Of course we too love our Starbucks fraps and ice cold teas! Nothing is off limits! (:

What do people in Singapore do to "beat the heat"?
We SHOP.

Most shopping complexes are accessible via underpasses or airconditioned walkways, so one can actually avoid going out into the open when hopping from one mall to another! Plus everybody, well almost everybody (except the tourists) purposefully hides out in airconditioned malls to escape from the weather. I guess that's a perfect reason to shop as well (:

Oh, and the opening of the newest mall ION with 4 storeys above ground and 4 below is now the perfect summer hide-out! (:

Please list 5 things that visitors to Singapore should experience this summer.
~ Sentosa. It's an island off our coast that's purely man-made. The beaches might be "fake" but it's beautiful and great for lying around with a mojito.
~ Buying ice cream along the street from one of the trishaw ice-cream sellers. It's only a dollar and a perfect way to combat heat while out shopping (:
~Shopping. The Annual great Singapore Sale just ended. People go nuts for it. Well, and people shop all day everyday regardless (: Plus refer to Question 5 (:
~Visit our zoo! It's AMAZING. I think one of the best (: and a perfect place to visit, anytime! Oh. We have a night safari too.
~ EAT. ANYTHING from ANYWHERE (well, except food you can find in your own country). You won't regret it. It's amazing (:
