A perfect way to enjoy the winter in the Netherlands - on an ice-cold terrace sipping a toasty cup of hot Chocomel (a wonderful syrupy hot chocolate drink). A Dutch friend of mine had tagged this photo on her Facebook page, and I couldn't help but marvel at how the Dutch are masters at enjoying life. It's freezing cold? No biggie, we'll just build an ice-patio and serve our customers outside! All seasons, if it's sunny, the Dutch are out and enjoying the weather. In a land plagued with lots of rain, I guess taking advantage of the dry days is a necessity.

I'm visiting Amsterdam in a few weeks and whilst I don't think I will be able to enjoy coffee on a frozen canal, I can't wait to experience their utside culture. I plan to be in my serviced apartment in Amsterdam as little as possible and see as much as possible :)
